Earlier I posted about getting tickets to the L’arCafe at the Space Shower TV the Diner in Shibuya.  My reservation was for last night and it was awesome.  Space Shower TV the Diner is a pretty cool venue all by itself.  I’d be interested to check it out on a normal night.  If I knew enough people, it’d make a good party venue too.  The entryway has a screen that’s built into the floor and extends up into the counter, which was L’arc en Ciel themed.  The logo moved a different way if you stepped on it.  It was really cool.

Ken’s outfit, 20th L’Anniversary Live.

Yukihiro’s outfit, 20th L’Anniversary Live.  So skinny!

Hyde’s outfit, 20th L’Anniversary Live.

Tetsuya’s outfit, 20th L’Anniversary Live.

The costumes from Day 1 of the 20th L’Anniversary Live were also in the entryway, as was the goods table and posters from various points during the band’s career.  Seats were assigned.  We ended up sharing our table with two Japanese girls, who were extremely surprised when we sat down.  They were cute, they knew all the lyrics to the songs and would occasionally bust out hyde moves at the table.  I would wager that everybody who was there went to the 20th L’Anniversary Live in May.

You really couldn’t argue that you weren’t getting your moneys worth here.  In addition to the dinner buffet and dessert buffet, this box was placed at all the seats.  Hyde’s and Ken’s were savory; Tetsuya’s and Yukihiro’s were sweet.  To be honest, I didn’t like Ken’s.  Yukihiro’s was my favorite.

There was a video playing showing various performances in the band’s career with added commentary by the band members.  When the band members were talking, you could hear a pin drop in the restaurant.  I was kind of amused by how quickly the place came back to life when the video ended.  Oh and this happened:

This is weird even for Hyde.

Everyone also got this free plastic cup.  Overall, the atmosphere and the food were very good (there was so much of it!).  So glad I was able to go.

Goods: L’arcafe glass and accessories tray.

Blatant fangirling continues with a pair of tickets that I purchased for L’arc~en~Ciel’s L’arcafe in Shibuya that starts today.  I missed the L’arcafe at the 20th L’Anniversary Live, so I’m glad I was able to get these tickets.  The site crashed when the clock struck 10am, but I just kept clicking confirm til it came through, lol.  Will post a follow up when I actually go.

Omg the live was awesome.  When I think about it; I’m happy.  Actual post about the live to come later when I have all the pictures (I stupidly forgot my camera and had to borrow my friend’s boyfriend’s and I’m waiting on him to send them to me).

Staff pass shirt.  This was definitely the cuter of the two shirt options they had, as evidenced by the S size selling out before I could get one.  But the bigger size isn’t too ill-fitting.  It also has more of a 20th anniversary feel than the other one did (which simply had a logo saying 20th anniversary on it on top of some horrible looking hot topic-esque horizontal black and yellow stripes).

I wasn’t originally going to buy this, but when I finally got up to the cashier I ended up buying it.  Caught up in the moment?

I feel like all Japanese concerts have what I refer to as “the towel song”; a fast-paced song that is punctuated by throwing or swinging the band’s branded muffler towel (as these are called) at the chorus….excellent marketing, Japan, exxxxxcellent.  I did not have said towel at VAMPS or Jasmine, so I figured what the hell I’ll be prepared this time…and then the towel song never came!  But as it was raining the entire time and got cold when the sun went down I was glad to have this to use as a scarf.

I wanted these tickets so badly.  I entered the L’Mobile preorder, the first Ticket Pia preorder, the first Lawsons preorder, the first Eplus preorder, the second Ticket Pia preorder, the second Lawsons preorder and the second Eplus preorder.  Ticket Pia 2 came through.  So I am 1/7 on these tickets and consider myself extremely lucky.  To those ordering tickets for via preorder, I really don’t think there’s any strategy to how to get your name drawn.  I tried entering the minute the preorder application period started, entering right before the application period ended and entering sometime in the middle.  Along the way I’ve also learned the kanji you don’t want to see 落選 (fail), 残念 (unfortunately); and the kanji you hope to see 当選 (success).

So yeah, hahaha.  If you know some Japanese the ticket ordering process isn’t hard at all.  Just keep google translate open in one tab to help you out.  Also, I’d recommended registering before the preorder starts; it saves you time.  Also, if you’re going to buy via the general admission sale (and not preorder), you need those precious seconds.

But yay, I’ll be heading to Tokyo at the end of May!

Yep, again with the concert gear.  VAMPS is the solo project of Hyde, L’arc~en~Ciel‘s vocalist.  L’arc~en~Ciel is my favorite band and while they all have solo projects, the only one I really like is Hyde’s.  It’s got a harder rock sound than L’arc.  Saw them at the Fillmore in NYC last year and again they were awesome in this much bigger venue.  Being Japan where Hyde is super popular, it was also a much bigger budget production and the giant screens had the clearest picture I’ve ever seen.  Would have taken a picture of that too, but staffers were prowling constantly.

The swag at this concert was ridiculous and included: noren (traditional Japanese curtains), omamori (protection charms that you’d normally buy at a temple), a 12,000yen ($145usd) hoodie dress, and an alarm clock.  See all of it here.

Yeah, yeah, concert gear is overpriced junk.  Whatever.  JASMINE is a new Japanese hip hop artist.  Gold is her debut album.  Check her out; she’s awesome and she has way above average English skills.  The concert was good, Alyssa and I were the only two foreigners there and the loudest two people in the room….Japanese audiences are quiet.

Grew up in philly, used to live in nyc, spent a year in japan. I like shopping. Gotta figure out what to do with this blog now...
